A Mysterious Death

I am Deepak. I used to live in Dhaka. I am currently working in a bank in Sylhet. What I will share with you today is what I saw with my own eyes. I was in class 4 then. I lived in Tejgaon Railway Colony. When I came home from school, I was busy with sports. I came home from school that afternoon to play.

There was a boy named Rakib in the house right in front of our house. My peers. In a very crazy mood and in a panic. We were all a little scared of him. Anyway, we were playing cricket that day. There is a field-like place in front of Rakib's house. Not too big, but enough for kids like us. To his right and left is a huge bell tree. There were many big bells in that tree. But I don't know why, no one ate the bell of that tree. Even we little ones avoided the tree. My mother and father also forbade me to go near the tree. Anyway, there was a boy with a little bigger body among us. Bigger body means we fall into the same class but look bigger than us. He suddenly made a shot and hit the ball towards the bell tree. We all looked and saw the ball go straight and fall into a little thick place of the bell tree and there was no sound of it falling down. That means the ball got stuck.

There was a commotion between us. Who will play the ball? No one agreed to go around the tree. Suddenly Rakib came forward and said he would climb the tree. We didn't all. But he did not listen and at one point sat up in the tree. The bell tree usually leaves a little from the top (so I saw it grow up), but this tree had branches from the comparatively lower. Rakib climbed the tree quickly. He was a little taller than us. It was not too late to climb to the top. We walked towards the tree. The bell tree was very dense. If you don't see it, no one will believe how dense it is. After suddenly climbing up, we could no longer see Rakib. He shouted from above and asked how much the ball had fallen. We didn't see him and started saying again and again that it seems to have fallen in the middle. He searched for about 4-5 minutes but could not find the ball. From above he said go down, I can't see the ball. We said okay. When he got down, he suddenly started shouting and said that he was in pain. Leave me, leave me. Save save save. He came down from the tree very quickly screaming like this. What I saw after that shocked our children. Rakib doesn't have a single piece of meat next to his thigh. Brother, I'm not lying. It was as if someone had cut a handful of meat in a hole. Blood is constantly flowing.

Rakib got down from the tree, looked up once and ran towards the house. Some of us got scared and ran towards our house. I and 2-3 others followed Rakib to their house. Rakib was entering through the door. Hearing her scream, Uncle Aunty came out from inside. Seeing his condition, everyone screamed in fear and distress. Rakib entered the room and fell unconscious. Uncle rushed him to Al Razi Hospital. Nothing could be done after being taken there. Rakib died at the hospital 20 minutes later.

Conclusion: After Rakib's death, people from all over the area gathered at their homes. Aunty was constantly lamenting and crying. I saw death happen before the first eyes of life. Rakib was brought home from the hospital. When the corpse was bathed, everyone was saying that his body was getting cold very fast and was getting stiff. After a quick janaza, he was buried in Azimpur on the advice of all the elders. Rakib's body was not shown after the janaza. Although there are rules that people can see the body after the janaza.

I never thought of spending my childhood more horrible than this. I lost a dear friend. Even in a way that never came in a dream. That bell tree was cut down. After the tree was cut down, or almost at night, someone would give the house to the uncles in a row with something in a row. Something metallic. No one dared to come out despite the loud noise. And in her sleep Aunty often saw a strange human body coming towards her. The uncles did not stay in that house for long. He left the house a few months later. My father was also transferred. We also moved to a new address.

I don't know what was the cause of Rakib's death. I was young so I couldn't discuss it with anyone. Growing up, I still think about it. I still remember Rakib.

May Allah keep Rakib well at all times. Very good. I will not forget you Rakib.
